Sweet Ol’ Blues

Years ago...

my dad bought a guitar and a Mel Bay instructional booklet with the intent of learning to play. It sat in a closet for over a year. He was too busy supporting a growing family to take the time to learn.

Then one fateful day I saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show. WOW!! What a sound! So fresh and raw. Harmony like I never heard before and they were having such a great time! I went right to that closet and you could hardly pry that guitar from my hands for the next few years.

By the time I graduated high school I was playing guitar in a blues band in Colorado. Our bass players’ grandparents owned an abandoned bunk house on their homestead which became our practice shack. I have fond memories of those days and the magic of creating music with my friends in that shack.

Years later I built a bluff side“shotgun shack” in the un-glaciated hills of Wisconsin. Although I now live in St. Paul, I often take the trip down the river road to spend as much time there as I can in my “Blues Shack” writing, arranging songs and making music with friends.

The Beatles and the whole British Invasion - The Animals, Rolling Stones, Manfred Mann, Yardbirds etc. introduced me to a world of music full of raw emotions and exuberance I had to be part of and ultimately lead me to discover the blues and jazz. Performing and writing music has been the passion of my life ever since.

This web page is for sharing my music with you. I hope you enjoy it!
